What does the worth of a real Persian depend on?
Only a professional can determine how much a carpet is worth. That’s right, and you are the expert if you give yourself 3 minutes.
The value of a new real Persian results in large part from:
- the Pattern aesthetics of the finished carpet,
- the quality of the used Wool and
- the Knot density
The service life in use, the so-called “durability”, results from the latter two.
It is important to note that these factors must always be seen together and in connection with the origin of the carpet in order to allow an assessment of the value – see Authenticity of a Persian .
How do I determine the knot density?
Fold the fringed edge of the rug so you can get a good look at the knots on the back. Put a ruler in one place and count how many rows of knots – that is, bumps – are on a centimeter section. If you take this number squared, you can calculate the number of nodes / cm 2 . Multiplied by 10,000, this gives the mostly specified knots / m 2 .
Of course, you can check this important information yourself in the detailed view of every carpet:

Is a real Persian an investment?
No, a Persian carpet is not a high-interest investment. But can your couch guarantee that it will retain its value?
It cannot generally be said that real Persians become more valuable over time. In other words: not every Persian carpet has what it takes to be a museum piece. However, the long service life of several hundred years when used at home guarantees at least value retention over a very long period of time. Our generous Cancellation and exchange conditions reflect this as well.
